Update April 2019 & 2020
Appointed Time of Passover
Moed of Pesach
Remember the story of the great flood of Noah's day, if you have not known this, please read in Genesis chapter 7 & 8. Back in those days, our Creator Father saw the wickedness of men on earth who were all doing great and evil. Every intent of their thoughts and hearts was only evil continually at that time. So, HE was sorry that He had made man on the earth and grieved in His heart. He said, "I will blot
out man whom I have created from the face of the earth, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them" - Gen 6:7. But there was one man who names Noah was found goodness in HIS eyes. Noah was chosen and order who help him build the ark (big boat/ship) to save people and the specific number of animals. Why did YAH, our Creator ONE planned on destroying all living things on earth by the flood of water why? It is because the world was full of evil. One whom YAH only found Noah goodness in him and those 7 other people believe in him were save in the ark would need to start over with their life on earth. They and all the specific animals were in the ark sailing on the water for a year, until the ground was back normal. Until the ground dries up from the flood, they and the animals were finally free to come out of the ark (Genesis 8:13-19). They all once again live on earth to start a new life all over again.
There was also another similar story like in Noah’s day. Our heavenly Father specifically chose one-man name Moses to lead HIS people, the Israelite out of Egypt. YAH plan was to salvation them by leading them out to the promised Land. Moses and his brother, Aaron, have gone to the pharaoh in the name of the Almighty Father who demands him to let his people go and worship YAHUAH, our Creator Father who made the heaven and earth. Pharaoh stubbornly refuses, and the ten plagues of judgment had fallen upon Egypt, the final plague was when YAH’s spirit pass over the houses of the YshREL (Israelite) - (Exodus 12:13) all the firstborn Egyptians end up dying by the spirit that passes long the house that had no mark of the Passover blood. Pharaoh gave up and let them go after he discovered his first-born son's death. Prior to this final plague, YAH commands Moses to institute the Passover, which is commemorative of HIS saving act in redeeming His people from bondage in Egypt. YshREL (Israelite) have been slavery in Egypt for over 400 years. Because they disobey YAH, they end up slave with man’s world instead of YAH. Then finally YAH heard people cried and HE gave them another chance. That is why YAH had picked Moses to leads them out of Egypt. To the Red Sea where HE provides the great miracle work by parting the waters and allowing HIS people to pass through to the other side of the land. While the pharaoh decides to chase them with his army to go after them (Exodus 14). Once all the people got on the other side of the Red Sea, Pharaoh and all his army end up drowned in the Red Sea. This is another great salvation story that the heavenly Father has brought them out of the dark world and lives in the new world. YAH promises to HIS people that they will have a promised land to live in peace.
People end up captivity again, even they have forgotten what YAH has done for them in Egypt. A small percentage of the house of Yahudah returning after 70 years. The Northern Kingdom was warned to REPENT (return to YaHUaH’s Torah) through the prophet Yehezqel (Isaiah) (see chapter 4), and would have to spend 390 years in captivity for their idolatry. They didn’t, so, unfortunately, the seventy-fold penalty kicked in (see Lev. 26) and so their captivity has lasted 2,730 years till their punishment will/have be/been lifted and a remnant of Ephraim will cry out to RETURN to YaHUaH and His Torah (see in Jeremiah) 31: 6).
The reason I, Bro. Pouliot started off with these example stories is to understand about salvation. To understand why the Israelite end slave to man many times. That the Israelite have forgotten and rebelled again YAH, our Almighty ONE who made them. Whom HE commanded them to follow HIS law. YAH wants HIS people to understand what the Passover means to us and why are we to remember this Passover appointed time holiday every year. The same reason for how and why YahuSha, our Messiah came for salvation by HIS own blood. This old way of sacrifice the lamb’s blood was the shadow of YahuSha who came as the real salvation ONE. The Passover which happened in Egypt occurs during the evening when all non-Israelite firstborn child was kill. Once again, because the king of Egypt had ignored YAH's demand throughout 9 plague until the 10th, the king finally releases all the Israelite go. This is like the sacrificed of the MessiYah, the Son of YAH. The same sacrifice way of the animal taught for the forgiveness of sin.
Read how Hebrews book chapter 13 or Romans chapter 3 explained all this, we can see how YahuSha was sacrificed his own blood on the tree for our sake. This is the same proportion of the sacrifice of the lamb which the ancient once practiced this law. This sacrificed of the lamb was taught to do it on the 14th day of the first month, which is why this appointed day is called the Passover day.
Understand this, again and again, the Passover lamb was the animal Creator ONE directed to the YshRELs to use as a sacrifice in Egypt, on the night HE had struck down the firstborn sons of every non-Israelite household (Exodus 12:29). This was the final plague HE issued against Pharaoh, the king and this is how it led Pharaoh to release the YshRELs from slavery (Exodus 11:1). After that fateful night, HE had instructed the YshRELs to observe this Passover day feast as a memorial (Exodus 12:14). He instructed every household of the Israelite people to select a year-old male lamb without defect (Exodus 12:5 & Leviticus 22:20-21). The head of the household
was to slaughter the lamb at twilight, taking care that none of its bones were broken, and apply some of its blood to the tops and sides of the doorframe of the house. The lamb was to be roasted and eaten (Exodus 12:7-8). HE also gave specific instructions as to how the YshREL were to eat the lamb, “with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand” (Exodus 12:11 & Ephesians 6:14). In other words, they had to be ready to travel. YAHUAH said that when HE saw the lamb’s blood on the doorframe of the house, He would “pass over” that home and not permit “the destroyer” (Exodus 12:23) to enter. Any home without the blood of the lamb would have their firstborn son struck down that night (Exodus 12: 12-13).
Passover marked to release YAH’s people from Egyptian slavery, so the death of the MessiYah marks our release from the slavery of sin of death (Romans 8:2). As the first Passover was to be held in remembrance as an annual feast, this is why we must NOT forget this appointed day as Shabbat which reminds us to remember the Shabbat day law. We are to memorialize this MessiYah's death in communion until He returns (1 Corinthians 11:26). This is the salvation that our heavenly Father had taken place for us and want us to remember this forever and ever. Just as HE also wants us to remember where we came from and who created us. Just as how HE created 6 days which labor and on the 7th day, HE created a memorial special day called Shabbat. In order to remember what he did in those 6 days of creation as a reminder of where did we come from.
This is why YahuSha, the MessiYah had taught us in the scriptural about his last supper with HIS disciples. Teaching them about the service of the unleavened bread which represents MessiYah's body, and the wine represents his blood as the new covenant (Luke 22:19-20). These are a symbolic substitute for the MessiYah as the true sacrificial Passover "Lamb of YAHUAH" (John 1:29). It always a good idea to bring in the children to hear and learn about this Passover story. To teach not only the children but also the grown-up people these lessons. As for why we must memorize this appointed Passover day in the book of Exodus 12: 14. Even it teaches us to GUARD (shamar) and OBSERVE this Passover appointed law throughout ALL generations FOREVER! And, whoever does not GUARD and PERFORM IT, is “cut–off” from the congregation of YShREL. This is why many of YAH’s people end up lost their life or were cast out of the tribe many times. This explained why today we have different cultural & beliefs in this world today because many of them once were YAH’s true Israelite people.
Why do you think we have such a certificate of divorce in the first place? If we have study this stricture carefully, we will understand and remember what the prophet Jeremiah said in chapter 3, we will also notice the time that was given a certificate of divorce ( which mean SEPARATION) was when the Northern Kingdom (house of YShREL) was carried into captivity by the Assyrians (Before the Common Era). Later the Southern Kingdom (house of Yahudah) was likewise carried into captivity by the Babylonians as well. This is why YAH HATE divorce. Have you ever heard of what was known as the ten lost tribes of YshREL? YAH had sent one man to bring back HIS people whom they all were lost. "For the Son of Adam have come to seek and to save what was LOST!” Luke 19: 10. And He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the LOST SHEEP of the house of YshREL.” Today we have such a mix race who are considered the lost people who have been long time divorce YAHUAH; not knowing the whole truth about themselves and where did they come from. Where did their ancestor's father come from?
In the book of Matthew 15:24, we might see some other scripture used the word "Pesach” which is translated as "Passover” but through a Hebraic understanding it also means "sparing from calamity or penalty”, the very reason why the Messiah came to "seek and to save”. Him who became the Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5: 7). The ordinances that were against us were the punishments for transgressing YaHUaH’s Torah. The transgression of the Torah is sin (1 John 3:4). The wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23) as it is written, “the soul that sins [transgressing Torah] shall die.” Ezekiel 18:20. Our sin [violation of the Torah] SEPARATES us from YAHUAH, who is our Almighty Father Isaiah 59:2 who created heaven and earth. If not for Messiah, the Northern Kingdom would’ve been LOST (SEPARATED) FOREVER. And it is through this gesture we begin to see our obligation to the Feast! "THEREFORE, let US KEEP THE FEAST”! 1st Corinthians 5: 7-8 & therefore, it is also important to understand WHEN the month of the 1st, (ABIB or AVIV) begins, we must know when to start counting the days. We must “GUARD and OBSERVE” this Passover, the Feast of Unleavened bread and all subsequent “APPOINTED TIMES HOLIDAY” which occur throughout every year.
Once again, how do we determine the first month of the 12-month cycle of the year? YaHUaH said through the prophet Moses, “For this command which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may OBSERVE it? Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may OBSERVE it? But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may OBSERVE it.” DEUTERONOMY 30: 11-14. Why is your mouth and in your heart? Because not only does Exodus 13: 8 -10 explains how you are to "inform your son in that day” (sometime in the future) that it is done OBSERVE as a celebration of Passover, "and IT shall be a SIGN to you on your hand and as a REMINDER between your eyes, that the Torah of YaHUaH is to be in your mouth”; it also explains to us why this is not too difficult for us to GUARD, OBSERVE and PERFORM this! Those who keep this SIGN (those who observe the Passover) will have the Torah in their hearts!
Once again, the Passover day always falls on the 14th day of the first new moon (which means the first month). Understand this, this is not followed by the Roman-Gregorian calendar we follow today as the first month of January. The first moon as the first month is the creation time system created by YAH. This first month of creation time usually happens between the pagan month of March and April. Hebrew called this first month as either ABIB or AVIV. If you're kind of new to this lesson, you need to study this before understanding everything.
Now that we know we are to observe and follow the creation time system instead of the world of man Roman-Gregorian calendar system way. We must be extra careful about how we track every appointed time holiday. Teaching the Passover lesson with the children every year, explain what Exodus 12:12-14; verse 14 that we are to keep this observing "forever” (This command also repeated in Leviticus 23:5). Exodus 12:15 introduces the seven-day festival called the Days of Unleavened Bread (also repeated in Leviticus 23:6-8), which was to immediately follow the Passover feast each year. This is why Acts 12:3 states, "Then were the days of unleavened bread,” before mentioning the Passover in the next verse. These days were always kept in conjunction with one another. Once again, the old covenant had instituted us the Passover is mentioned to keep it forever remembrance. Because it was to repeats until the New Covenant time as well. New Covenant reminds us to continue to observe it because of how YahuSha salvation us. First Corinthians 5:7-8 instruction this: "Purge out, therefore, the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even MessiYah our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast (of unleavened bread, which always followed Passover, as explained above)…” MessiYah our Savior, as the Lamb of Yahuah, (in John 1:29; Acts 8:32; First Peter 1:19; Rev. 5:6), replaced the Old Covenant lamb eaten on Passover evening each year.
The New Covenant where clear instructions are given regarding us how often the Passover should be observed. First Corinthians 5:7-8 sets the stage for later instructions from the apostle Paul that we will review momentarily here. These verses state, "MessiYah our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore, let us keep that feast, not with old leaven…but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” Here, in the New Covenant, Paul plainly calls MessiYah the Passover and gives instructions to the follower of Messiah to observe the Days of Unleavened Bread. In this same epistle, he gives further instructions about the Passover observance. First Corinthians 11:23-28 is often misunderstood by many people to be a license from Paul to observe the Passover as often as one wishes to do it. The phrase "as often as you do it” is said by many to mean that MessiYah's followers (believers) may take the bread and the wine as often as they choose! The proper explanation of these verses’ springs from verse 24. Notice that the Passover is a memorial, "a remembrance.” Memorials are observed on an annual basis. Verse 26 shows that this memorial refers to "the master’s death,” which occurred on the Passover (remember, YahuSha is our Passover [First Corinthians 5:7).
Passover always kept once a year. Verse 28 shows us that the Passover ceremony is preceded by careful self-examination—which could not logically be done every day or every week, even if a person did wish to do it this often. First Corinthians 11:29 warns of believers who may lose faith taking the Passover “unworthily” can be taken improperly—or unworthily. Self-examination was tied to this warning (vs. 28), just as was the issue of when it was taken (vs. 23). YahuSha's followers must properly discern the symbols that represent Messiah’s sacrifice. It also should be clear to us by now that the New Covenant when YahuSha, the Messiah ate his last supper on earth is a direct continuation of the Old Covenant Passover, except that different symbols, commemorating YahuSha’s death, have replaced the slaying and eating of a young spring lamb.
On YahuSha day of his last supper, this happened on the 14th day of the first moon, which land on the 5th day of the week (Thursday) evening. He dies on the tree on the evening hour of the 15th days of the first moon, which land on the 6th day of the week. That day was the first full day of Unleavened Bread. As we have seen so far, YahuSha was slain for us in place of a literal lamb on that day, not on the Passover evening, since he ate his last supper with his disciples. This ordinance should still be observed on the 14th day of Abib, which is the first month correctly, but our modern month again happened during the month between March & April. However, please understand this…. every year Passover & Unleavened Bread days do not fall on Thursday and Friday every year like YahuSha last supper and sacrificed day. Nowhere did YAH have to change the Passover & Unleavened Bread appointed instruction. YAH instructed the exact pattern the day YahuSha ate his last meal, died on the tree, buried and then rose alive. This happened on his day from Thursday to Sunday, but again, as I said before, this does not always fall on Thursday to Sunday. This is why we must follow what the Bible instructed us to follow by the 14th counting day of the first moon (month). That day Passover day could land on the 1st day (Sunday), 2nd day (Monday) or 6th day (Friday) of the week. Every year, the appointed time will differ from how we read the 7th day calendar week.
Don’t catch up with the Easter traditions idea. Those pagan followers practice this so-called Easter false holiday are stuck with these wrong patterns of YahuSha’s Passover, sacrifice and resurrection day. Just because of how they see what the book of Acts 12:4 said. They see the word “Easter” in this passage verse, which was replaced with the word Passover wrongfully. Long ago, the translator in vain have changed this, had caused everyone brainwash to observe this Easter as the resurrection day the Messiah was raised from the dead. They also called this day the new Shabbat, which was on the first day (Sunday). That why many today worship on Sunday as the so-called LORD DAY. They worship the Sun which how they name the first day. The Messiah did indeed did raise on the first day which is on Sunday but, the problem is, YahuSha did not raise on the Passover day? This is one of the most confusing ways of how people misunderstanding what is the Passover day. Not understanding the correct pattern for the Passover day to the resurrection day.
The first thing, we need to understand is the 12 years cycle and when does it actually begin? There is two way of knowing this. When the first month began in the 12 years cycle. BUT FIRST, the lesson tells us about a sign of the time. That we must know the time of season correctly. Remember, YahuSha's followers have kept this Passover & Unleavened Bread example of what YahuSha taught them (First Peter 2:21)—and Messiah sets the example of keeping the Passover. We are commanded to keep it forever—as being the Yisraelites did when YAH first instituted it. To observe it daily, weekly and even monthly to trivialize this as deeply indeed important and solemn annual occasion. The Passover was always intended to be a yearly memorial. YahuSha, as our Passover and Savior, who was impaled on the tree at the time of the Passover—which is observed once a year. Men are never permitted to arbitrarily place YahuSha back on the tree, even symbolically, as often as they choose! This does not "glorify YahuSha” at all—it disobeys YAH which dishonor YahuSha’s sacrifice. (Notice this in Hebrews 6:6).
Oh, dear brothers and sisters who we are all who came from the first man ADAM, we must return to our Creator ONE who made us and must honor HIM as our Savior and Almighty Father. To understand why we are to remember what he did for us. Remember all the commandments HE expects from us not to forget or ignore forever.
