Update April 2019
Appointed Time of Passover
Moed of Pesach
Remember about the great flood of Noah's day if you have ever read it in the Scriptural books (Bible), if not, please read in the book of Genesis chapter 7 & 8. It about the Creator Father who saw the wickedness of men on earth was great and evil, and every intent of their thoughts and heart was only evil continually that time. So, HE was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and grieved in His heart. He said, "I will blot
out man whom I have created from the face of the earth, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them" - Gen 6:7. But there was one man who name Noah was found goodness in HIS eyes. Noah was chosen and order to build an ark to save people and the specific number of animals. HE planed on destroying all living things on earth by flood of water why? It is because the world was full of evil. Only 8 people and the specific number of clean and unclean animals who also got in the ark to be save from the flood. They and the animals were all in and stay for a year until the ground were back normal. Until the ground were dry up from the flood, they and the animals were finally free to come out of the ark (Genesis 8:13-19). They all once again live on earth a new all over again.
There were another similar story like in Moses' day. Our heavenly Father specifically chose one man name Moses to lead HIS people, Israelite from captivity whom they all were salve in Egypt. Salvation lead them out to the Promised Land. Moses and his brother, Aaron, have gone to the pharaoh in the name of the Almighty Father and demand him to let his people go and worship the Almighty Father, the Creator ONE YAH. Pharaoh stubbornly refuses, and ten plagues of judgment fall upon the people and the land, the final plague was when Almighty ONE, YAH pass over the houses of the YshREL (Israelite) - (Exodus 12:13) when the firstborn of all the Egyptians were destroyed. Pharaoh gave up and let them go after he discovered his first born son death. Prior to this final plague, HE commands Moses to institute the Passover, which is commemorative of HIS saving act in redeeming His people from bondage in Egypt. YshREL (Israelite) have been slavery in Egypt for over 400 year. Moses leads the people to the edge of the Red Sea where HE provides another great miracle work by parting the waters and allowing HIS people pass to the other side while the other who the pharaoh and his army had changed his mind and went after them (Exodus 14). Once all the people got on the other side of the Red Sea, pharaoh and all of his army drowned in the sea. This is another great salvation story which the heavenly Father have brought HIS out of the darkness evil world.
Their reason of captivity ended when a small percentage of the house of Yahudah returning after 70 years. The Northern Kingdom was warned and said to REPENT (return to YaHUaH’s Torah) through the prophet Yehezqel (Isaiah) (see chapter 4), and would have to spent 390 years in captivity for their idolatry. They didn’t, so unfortunately the seventy-fold penalty kicked in (see Lev. 26) and so their captivity has lasted 2,730 years till their punishment will/have be/been lifted and a remnant of Ephraim will cry out to RETURN to YaHUaH and His Torah (see in Jeremiah) 31: 6).
The reason I, Bro. Pouliot started off with these two short story is to understand about salvation, who is this Almighty ONE who lead HIS people salvation by the chosen person like Noah or Moses? What does this Passover mean to us which happen every year? First, we to understand how powerful and amazing had our Almighty ONE, who is our Creator ONE have done the wonderful salvation to HIS people. From how they were suffering from the darkness world and HE leaded them out to the light of the promise land. No one can destroy HIM but HE can destroy those who turn against HIM badly. There once were a Passover event which occurs during the evening when all non-Israelite firstborn child was kill. Because the king of Egypt had been ignoring YAH's demand throughout 9 plague, until the 10th the king finally release all the Israelite go. This is like the sacrificed of the MessiYah, the Son of YAH. The same sacrifice way of the animal taught for the forgiveness of sin. Now let read Hebrews book chapter 13 or Romans
chapter 3, as we can see how the MessiYah was sacrificed by blood on the tree for our sake. Again, this is the same proportion of the sacrifice of the lamb which the ancient once practiced this law. This sacrificed of the lamb was taught to do it on the 14th day of the first month, which is called the Passover day.
Understand this again, the Passover lamb was the animal Creator ONE directed to the YshRELs to use as a sacrifice in Egypt on the night HE had struck down the firstborn sons of every non-Israelite household (Exodus 12:29). This was the final plague HE issued against Pharaoh, the king and this is how it led Pharaoh releasing the
YshRELs from slavery (Exodus 11:1). After that fateful night, HE had instructed the YshRELs to observe this Passover feast as a memorial (Exodus 12:14). He instructed every household of the Israelite people to select a year-old male lamb without defect (Exodus 12:5; cf. Leviticus 22:20-21). The head of the household was to slaughter the lamb at twilight, taking care that none of its bones were broken, and apply some of its blood to the tops and sides of the doorframe of the house. The lamb was to be roasted and eaten (Exodus 12:7-8). HE also gave specific instructions as to how the YshREL were to eat the lamb, “with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand (Exodus 12:11; cf. Ephesians 6:14). In other words, they had to be ready to travel. Almighty ONE said that when HE saw the lamb’s blood on the door-frame of the house, He would “pass over” that home and not permit “the destroyer” (Exodus 12:23) to enter. Any home without the blood of the lamb would have their firstborn son struck down that night (Exodus 12: 12-13).
Passover marked the Creator Father release HIS people from Egyptian slavery, so the death of the MessiYah marks our release from the slavery of sin of death (Romans 8:2). As the first Passover was to be held in remembrance as an annual feast, so today, we are to memorialize this MessiYah's death in communion until He returns (1 Corinthians 11:26). This is the salvation which our heavenly Father had take place for us and want us to remember this forever and ever. Just as HE also want us to remember where did we come from and who created us. Why did he salvation us from sin? This is why the MessiYah have taught us in the scriptural book during his last supper with HIS disciples. Teaching them about the service of the unleavened bread which represent as MessiYah's body, and the wine represents of his blood as the new covenant (Luke 22:19-20). These are a symbolic substitute for the MessiYah as the true sacrificial Passover "Lamb of YAHUAH" (John 1:29).
FYI, the name of YAHUAH is the true name of our Creator Father. The MessiYah earthly name is YahuSha. The more we truly know what the Father's and Son's true name is, we can discover the name of Jesus or Jehovah is not the true name. Detail are not explain here in this document why Jesus or Jehovah is not the true name. I suggest reader of this document article to find the other document topic about HIS name at http://www.word2believe.info/articles .
Here is a lesson why we must memorize this one of the appointed Passover day, in the book of Exodus 12: 14, it tell us that we're to GUARD (shamar) and OBSERVE the Passover as a "known”, or “memorial” way throughout ALL generations FOREVER! And, whoever does not GUARD and PERFORM IT, is “cut–off” from the congregation of YShREL. This, we’ve been cut-off many time. This is SOO true because we can see why we have so many difference cultural & beliefs in this world today. Why do you think we have such certificate of divorce in the first place? If we have study the this stricture, remember what the prophet Jeremiah said in chapter 3, we will notice the time that was given a certificate of divorce (SEPARATION) was when the Northern Kingdom (house of YShREL) was carried into captivity by the Assyrians (Before the Common Era). Later the Southern Kingdom (house of Yahudah) was likewise carried into captivity by the Babylonians as well.
Have you ever heard of what was know as the ten lost tribes of YshREL? YAH had sent one man to bring back HIS people whom they all were lost. "For the Son of Adam have come to seek and to save what was LOST!” Luke 19: 10. And He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the LOST SHEEP of the house of YshREL.” Today we have such mix of race who are considered the lost people as well; not knowing the whole truth about themselves. Where did their ancestor father did they came from? Me, I have learned that I may not come from the tribe of YshREL because YshREL came from the ancestor father of Shem. One of Noah's three sons. I believe I have come from the tribe of Japheth's families.
Now, this does not mean I'm not YAH's people because I'm not the YshREL. I can still concern be like one if I join to believe in HIS way of life. For example, is Adam, Enoch, Noah or Abraham the blood of YshREl? No, but they are YAH's people who follow HIM, just as the true YshREl did too. After the tribe of YshREl, they become the lost people of the gentiles (which also mean nations). Please understand that gentiles does not mean a title name for non-believers or non-Israel nor foreign but all kind of nations.
Back about the Passover day topic. In the book of Matthew 15:24, we see the word "Pesach” which is translated as "Passover” but through a Hebraic understanding it also means "sparing from calamity or penalty”, the very reason why the Messiah came to "seek and to save”. Him who became the Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5: 7). The ordinances that were against us were the punishments for transgressing YaHUaH’s Torah. The transgression of the Torah is sin (1 John 3:4). The wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23) as it is written, “the soul that sins [transgressing Torah] shall die.” Ezekiel 18:20. Our sin [violation of the Torah] SEPARATES us from YAHUAH, who is our Almighty Father Isaiah 59:2 who created the heaven and earth. If not for Messiah, the Northern Kingdom would’ve been LOST (SEPARATED) FOREVER. And it is through this gesture we begin to see our obligation to the Feast! "THEREFORE, let US KEEP THE FEAST”! 1st Corinthians 5: 7-8 & therefore, it is also important to understand WHEN the month of the 1st , (ABIB or AVIV) begins, we must know when to start counting the days. We must “GUARD and OBSERVE” this Passover, the Feast of Unleavened bread and all subsequent “APPOINTED TIMES HOLIDAY” which occur throughout every year.
How do we determine the 1st month cycle of the year?
YaHUaH said through the prophet Moses, “For this command which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may OBSERVE it? Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may OBSERVE it? But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may OBSERVE it.” DEUTERONOMY 30: 11-14.
Why in your mouth and in your heart? Because not only does Exodus 13: 8 -10 explains how you are to "inform your son in that day” (sometime in the future) that it is done OBSERVE as a celebration of Passover, "and IT shall be a SIGN to you on your hand and as a REMINDER between your eyes, that the Torah of YaHUaH is to be in your mouth”; it also explains to us why this is not too difficult for us to GUARD, OBSERVE and PERFORM this! Those who keep this SIGN (those who observe the Passover) actually show that they have the Torah in their hearts!
Once again, the Passover day always fall on the 14th day of the first new moon day (first month). Understand this, this is not follow by the Roman-Gregorian calendar we all have follow on January month, but YAH's creation time system which usually happen between the month of March & April. Hebrew called this first month as either ABIB or AVIV. If you're kind of new to this lesson, you need to study this before understand everything. First thing we need to understand is the 12 years cycle and when does it actually began? There is two way of knowing this. When the first month began in the 12 years cycle. BUT FIRST, the lesson tell us about sign of time. That we must know the time of season correctly.
"Proclaim the Word! Be urgent in season, out of season. Reprove, warn, appeal, with all patience and teaching. For there shall be a time when they shall not bear sound teaching, but according to their own desires, they shall heap up for themselves teachers tickling the ear, and they shall indeed turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to myths” 2nd TIMOTHY 4:2-4
"All Scripture is breathed by YAH and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of YAH might be fitted, equipped for every good work.” 2nd TIMOTHY 3:16-17
"Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night and let them be for signs and appointed times and for days and years” GENESIS 1:14
Now that we must follow the creation time system instead of the world of man made Roman-Gregorian time system. We must be extra careful how we come to know when is the next appointed holiday. Now, let out-loud the Passover lesson with the children every year in Exodus 12:12-14; Verse 14 which ceremony it "forever.” (This command also repeated in Leviticus 23:5.) Exodus 12:15 introduces the seven-day festival called the Days of Unleavened Bread (also repeated in Leviticus 23:6-8), which was to immediately follow the Passover feast each year. This is why Acts 12:3 states, "Then were the days of unleavened bread,” before mentioning the Passover in the next verse. These days were always kept in conjunction with one another.
Once again, the old covenant had instituted us the Passover are mentioned to kept forever remembrance. Because it was to repeats until the New Covenant time as well. New Covenant also reminds us to continue to observe it. First Corinthians 5:7-8 instruction this: "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even MessiYah our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast (of unleavened bread, which always followed Passover, as explained above)…” MessiYah our Savior, as the Lamb of Yahuah, (in John 1:29; Acts 8:32; First Peter 1:19; Rev. 5:6), replaced the Old Covenant lamb eaten on Passover evening each year.
The New Covenant where clear instructions which given regarding us how often the Passover should be observed. First Corinthians 5:7-8 sets the stage for later instructions from the apostle Paul that we will review momentarily here. These verses state, "MessiYah our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven…but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” Here, in the New Covenant, Paul plainly calls MessiYah the Passover and gives instructions to follower of Messiah to observe the Days of Unleavened Bread. In this same epistle, he gives further instructions about the Passover observance. First Corinthians 11:23-28 is often misunderstood by many people to be a license from Paul to observe the Passover as often as one wishes to do it. The phrase "as often as you do it” is said by many to mean that MessiYah's followers (believers) may take the bread and the wine as often as they choose! The proper explanation of these verses springs from verse 24. Notice that the Passover is a memorial, "a remembrance.” Memorials are observed on an annual basis. Verse 26 shows that this memorial refers to "the Master’s death,” which occurred on the Passover (remember, YahuSha is our Passover [First Corinthians 5:7).
In ancient Yisrael, the Passover was always kept once a year. Verse 28 shows that the Passover ceremony is preceded by careful self-examination—which could not logically be done every day or every week, even if a person did wish to do it this often. First Corinthians 11:29 warns of believers who may lose faith taking the Passover “unworthily” can be taken improperly—or unworthily. Self-examination was tied to this warning (vs. 28), just as was the issue of when it was taken (vs. 23). YahuSha's followers must properly discern the symbols that represent Messiah’s sacrifice. It also should be clear to you by now that the New Covenant when Yeshua ate his last supper on earth is a direct continuation of the Old Covenant Passover, except that different symbols, commemorating YahuSha’ death, have replaced the slaying and eating of a young spring lamb. The last supper happened on the 6th day of the week which is the Friday evening, before the 7th day morning which is the Shabbat. As we have seen so far, YahuSha was slain for us in place of a literal lamb. This ordinance should still be observed on the 14th day of Abib (which is the first month, but our modern month again is during the month between March & April). Nowhere did YHUH have change this instruction at all like how the book of Acts 12:4 in King James Version (KJV) used the word EASTER that was replaced with Passover in vain by the past translator. YahuSha did not raise on that Passover day, not until the 3rd day which happened the early Sunday morning, the first day of the week. To better understand about the 3 day periods which YahuSha had been dead for, we need to study the portion of how long did Jonah was in the belly of the whale, please visit at https://www.word2believe.info/as-jonah-three-periods-of-days
The Passover in the OLD teaching is still mean for us to memorialize what and how YAHUAH's deliverance Yisrael from sin, the same as how the MessiYah had sacrifice his life for us through the New Covenant ordinance of the bread and wine, which does exactly the same thing for the believers today. YahuSha was seized, falsely accused and imprisoned, examined, tortured, beaten and crucified—to pay for and cover of our sins—all in the following daylight portion of the exact same day of the first month (of Abib). Scholars are not disputing this time sequence. Hence, this all occurred on the 14th of the month of Abib.
Remember, YahuSha's followers have copied the example of what He had taught them (First Peter 2:21)—and Messiah sets the example of keeping the Passover. We are commanded to keep it forever—as being the Yisraelites did when YHUH first instituted it. To observe it daily, weekly and even monthly to trivialize this as deeply indeed important and solemn annual occasion. The Passover was always intended to be a yearly memorial. YahuSha, as our Passover and Savior, was impaled at the time of the Passover—which is observed once a year. Men are never permitted to arbitrarily place YahuSha back on the tree, even symbolically, as often as they choose! This does not "glorify YahuSha” at all—it disobeys YHUH and our Master which would dishonor His sacrifice. (Notice this in Hebrews 6:6).
"Therefore, go and make taught ones of all the nations, immersing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Set-apart Spirit, teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And see, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Amĕn. Matthew 28:19-20 etc...
