Abomination of Sports
When someone asked me "Are you going to watch the Super Bowl or any other sports game"? My answer is NOPE. If they asked me how come? I would do my best to explain about our Creator ONE who made heaven and earth DO NOT APPROVE sports. “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize?” (1st Corinthians 9:24). Followers of YHUH should not either participate in any games or any athletic sports event at all.
First, these games or sports are based on competition, something that we should know is not a wise play to do according to 2nd Corinthians 10:12. Second, winning at such a sporting event surely likely promotes a prideful dark spirit. Scripture warns us, "everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the YHUH” (Proverbs 16:5). This is why those who run in a race all run, but only one will receive the grand prize end up to receive the standing pride and those who lost receive the failure position. Further, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling” (v. 18).
Apostle Paul tells us that we must not have a “superior” attitude since YHUH is the one who gives us skills and abilities (1st Corinthians 4:7). We should be careful about how we use our skills and abilities to succeed in our duty. A competitive, boastful, envying spirit that sports promote is a carnal or fleshly attitude rather than a spiritual one (Galatians 5:25-26). We should do what is right for the glory of Father, YAHUAH.
People who gamble in sport are also abominations. Because gambling is a sin. Yes, scripture very much encourages us to stay away from these attempts to “get rich quick” (Proverbs 13:11;23:5; Ecclesiastes 5:10). Scripture also does warn us to stay away from the love of money (1st Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5). First Timothy 6:10 tells us, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” So, brothers and sisters, the only way to win the right way is to follow and believe YAH’s teachings.
